Historic Chelsea Nursery School To Become Residential Building
Located at 214 West 15th Street between 7th and 8th Avenues, this building was part of the Nazareth Nursery Montessori School for years before being sold to luxury real estate firm Holliswood Development for $12.6 million. Now, it’s set to be converted into a seven-story, 75-foot residential building.

Chelsea Music Hall Debuts
Chelsea just got a lot more entertaining with the launch of the Chelsea Music Hall, located beneath the beloved Chelsea Market, on October 18th. Located at 407 West 15th Street, between Ninth and 10th Avenues, this new entertainment venue will host dinner theater, concerts, comedy shows and more. All these fun cultural occasions will be accompanied by the delicious food from the Market’s Israeli restaurant, Miznon. The special menu was created by Chef Eyal Shani, and contains only-in-New-York dishes like a bagel with shrimp salad. Meanwhile, Shani is planning to launch a flagship restaurant in March, located at 10th Avenue and 50th Street.
Intersect by Lexus Opens A New Cultural Space
If your life could use a little more culture, look no further than the brand new Intersect by Lexus, an experiential space home to a cafe, bar/lounge and restaurant, and private gallery. New York joins Tokyo and Dubai as the third cultural hub of the beloved car brand. Designed with the help of the Wonderwall design firm, the space has subtle touches of Lexus’ design aesthetic, seen in the leather seating and circular bar, which calls to mind a tire. The second-floor restaurant will feature a rotating cast of chefs, debuting a brand new menu every four to six months. First up is Parisian chef Gregory Marchand, known for his restaurant, Frenchie.
Dior Launches Pop-Up Shop
The Meatpacking District has increasingly become one of the city’s premiere fashion outposts, and the arrival of French fashion house Dior only solidifies its new reputation. The opening party, which took place on November 14th, featured life-size elephants and giraffes holding the brand’s famous saddle bags. The boutique also features an exclusive ABCDior personalization service that lets you customize your Dior bag.
Unit At the Porter House Hits the Market
A 5,500-square-foot unit in the spacious Porter House, located at 66 Ninth Avenue at 15th Street in the Meatpacking District, is about to dazzle the NYC real estate market. Created by designer Paris Forino, this apartment combines three separate units for a grand total of five bedrooms, 6.5 bathrooms and one private terrace. It will be offered at $29 million; please let me know if you have an interest in seeing it.
Parisian Restaurant “Encore” Opens
Chef Jean Imbert, who boasts celebrity friends including Pharrell, has just launched his first New York restaurant, Encore, in the Meatpacking District. After the enthusiastic reception of his Parisian restaurant, L’Acajou, Imbert, the winner of season three of “Top Chef,” is ready to make a splash in the Big Apple based on his farm-to-table philosophy.
Mickey Mouse Celebrates His 90th Birthday
Get in touch with your inner child at this pop-up warehouse birthday party celebrating 90 years of Mickey Mouse! Located at 60 Tenth Avenue, the space spans the entire block between 14th and 15th Streets. This expansive exhibit, curated by Darren Romanelli, features art by masters like Daniel Arsham, London Kaye, Oliver Clegg, and even a giant mural by Katherine Bernhardt. Videos and spacial illusions complete the experience. Tickets are being sold in timed-entry blocks at $38 a pop, and you can expect to spend approximately 90 minutes communing with your favorite cartoon mouse. Best of all, the exhibit includes an Ample Hills ice cream counter with two custom flavors created especially for Mickey’s birthday.
Roman and Williams Reveals Interiors of New Chelsea Condominium
Roman and Williams design firm has finally offered a look inside the model home at their most eagerly-anticipated new condominium, The Fitzroy. The images spotlight the carefully-designed kitchen, which features copper backsplashes, marble countertops and a Miele steam oven.
